Odoo 19 launched at Odoo Experience 2025 in Brussels. Here are the Odoo 19 new features that matter to UAE companies, from AI agents and the VAT201 return to WPS payroll, inventory and the website, plus what to check before you upgrade.
Key takeaways
On 18 September 2025, Odoo opened Odoo Experience 2025 in Brussels by presenting Odoo 19. The release notes run app by app, and most entries are small improvements to screens people already use. A few go deeper: AI that works inside your records, a rebuilt UAE VAT return, payroll updates for the Wage Protection System and changes to how units, packagings and employee contracts are stored.
This guide sorts the Odoo 19 new features by the work they change for a UAE business: AI, accounting and tax, inventory and sales, HR and payroll, and the website. It ends with the checks to run before you upgrade, because some of these changes reshape data you already have.
Edition note: the AI app behind agents, AI fields and Ask AI search ships with Odoo Enterprise, as do full Accounting, Payroll, Studio and Documents, so most of the headline changes below reach Enterprise databases. Apps shared by both editions, such as Sales, Inventory and Website, change in Community too, but features built on Enterprise apps, such as WhatsApp messages, still need Enterprise. Still choosing? The table picks the changes most UAE teams will notice in their first weeks on the new version. Everything here comes from Odoo's official Odoo 19 release notes.
| Area | What is new in Odoo 19 | Who notices first |
|---|---|---|
| AI | Agents that learn from your documents, AI fields, plain-language search, drafting and voice transcripts | Everyone, from sales to finance |
| UAE tax | VAT201 rebuilt on the new reporting engine, corporate tax report refactored | Finance teams and tax advisers |
| Accounting | Simpler bank reconciliation, two-level duplicate warnings, a tax return feature with deadlines | Accountants |
| Inventory | Units and packagings merged, smarter reordering rules, suggested purchase quantities | Warehouse and purchasing |
| Sales | Sections on quotations and invoices, optional sections in the portal, partial online payments | Sales teams and customers |
| HR and payroll | Employees and contracts merged, pay runs, a WPS export better aligned with MoHRE rules | HR and payroll |
| Website | SEO checks, form field validation, pages generated from a prompt | Marketing |
The headline change in Odoo 19 is AI that appears across everyday screens: in the top bar, in fields, in search and in the chatter, the message thread at the bottom of every record.
You can use your own Gemini account as the AI provider, and ChatGPT 5.0 is available. CRM adds AI insights on the probability of winning each lead, and Documents can sort files and trigger actions from AI prompts.
Start with low-risk uses such as summaries, first drafts and search. Keep a person approving anything that reaches a customer, and see what each use saves before you widen it. For the wider picture, read what an AI-driven ERP actually does for a growing UAE business.
The UAE VAT return, form VAT201, has been completely overhauled to use Odoo's new reporting engine, with updated taxes and tax groups. The import tax calculation now accounts only for the customs VAT amount. Our quarter-end VAT workflow sets out the checks to run before you file.
The corporate tax report has been refactored to be easier to follow, and it now supports companies under the AED 375,000 threshold and companies with a net loss. As the UAE government portal explains, corporate tax is 0 per cent on taxable income up to AED 375,000 and 9 per cent above it.
Across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) localizations, you can now add Arabic as a secondary language on accounting documents, including point of sale receipts. Paymob is also supported as a payment provider in the UAE.
One structural change needs care. Fiscal positions no longer hold tax mappings: each tax now declares the fiscal position where it applies and which taxes it replaces. Check exports and other special cases on a test copy before you rely on the new VAT201.
For trading and distribution companies, the inventory changes matter most. Product units and product packagings are merged into one simplified model, and unit of measure categories are gone. If you sell the same item by the piece, the carton and the pallet, test this first.
In Sales, quotations, orders and invoices can be split into sections and subsections, with the option to hide prices inside a section. Customers can choose optional sections in the portal and pay part of an invoice online. Purchasing can create several alternative requests for quotation (RFQs) at once and upload a vendor bill straight from the purchase order. See what we deploy for Trading and Commerce businesses.
Employees and contracts are merged in Odoo 19, with a new versioning mechanism for changes over time. Payroll batches are renamed pay runs and follow guided steps, and an employee's net salary can be split across several bank accounts.
The UAE payroll localization, part of the Payroll app in Odoo Enterprise, adds:
Attendances adds overtime rulesets, an Officer access level and a time off ledger that shows absences without a time off request. Expense reports are removed: each expense now stands on its own, and several can be submitted, approved and posted together from the list view.
The website builder has new building blocks, a simpler interface and SEO (search engine optimization) checks for keywords, schema markup and content. Website forms can validate individual fields, so visitors submit details in the format you expect.
AI can generate new web pages from a prompt. In eCommerce, products sync with Google Merchant Center, product pages are better suited to Google's rich results, customers can reorder from a past order and extra units or packagings can be selected online.
Most of the release adds features. The changes below alter data or habits you already have, so test them on an upgraded copy of your database before the live move.
The Odoo upgrade documentation explains how to request an upgraded test database on Odoo Online, Odoo.sh or your own server.
There is no need to rush. Odoo supports each major version for three years, and its support table plans support for Odoo 18, released in October 2024, until September 2027. Support for Odoo 16 ends in September 2025, so databases on Odoo 16 or older have the strongest reason to plan now. On Odoo Online, a database on a major version must be upgraded every two years, and Odoo notifies you before a mandatory upgrade.
Good reasons to move early are a new implementation, a strong case for the AI features or a need for the rebuilt UAE reports. Good reasons to wait are third-party modules without an Odoo 19 version, heavy customization that needs porting, or a filing deadline coming up. Either way, the smaller the gap between versions, the easier the upgrade.
Through OdooStar, our Odoo practice in Ajman, we implement Odoo 19 and upgrade existing databases to it. For Odoo Enterprise, Odoo's upgrade service migrates the standard data while our engineers port custom modules, test Studio changes and reports, and train your users. For Community databases, we plan and run the upgrade as a migration project.
We also configure the UAE localization on your own data: VAT taxes and fiscal positions, the VAT201 report and, on Enterprise, WPS payroll. If customers reach you on WhatsApp and social channels too, StarBot, our conversational AI chatbot, answers in Arabic and English and hands complex requests to your team.
